Eilean Donan Castle is positioned on a small tidal island where three lochs meet, Loch Duich, Loch Long and Loch Alsh, in the beautiful western Highlands of Scotland. The castle was founded in the thirteenth century.
John Webb’s windmill in Thaxted, England is such a charming well kept windmill, it’s well worth a visit. On my arrival I discovered the wheat in the fields was still quite green and not the golden colour I was hoping for. So decided to convert this one to black & white. I hope the tractor tracks create a nice leading line to the windmill and the lovely clouds that sunny day.
The lonely looking Lagangarbh Hut, with the towering mountain Buachaille Etive Mòr behind, on a beautiful morning.

I finally managed to capture the stars over Willy Lott’s cottage. I decided to convert this to B&W. Unfortunately I was a little too late for the Orion star constellation above the cottage, which had drifted to the right of this image.
This alluring but delicate lone tree is set against the backdrop of lake Buttermere, with Fleetwith Pike fell overlooking in the distance. A tranquil evening in the Lake District.
A darker, colder and moodier companion to my earlier “Graze in the Rays” image in my gallery here. Taken from a similar vantage point, but this time with very cold, blustery and wet conditions!
An early morning long exposure of Loch Long. The Loch was so calm and still on this morning in Scotland.
A renowned fishing area, Loch Venachar is situated in the heart of the Trossachs near Callander, Scotland. The Loch is often stocked with brown & rainbow trout.
